Jacob, thank you for this cogent post. I agree--we do need to spend more time in seminar "making a mesh" of our disparate itineraries. In previous courses, we used common texts (case studies, theoretical works in new media, edited collections on technology and access, etc) as a "glue" to help us bond our interests and create larger models for supporting and nourishing our inquiry. Because this is a client-based course, we can't really saddle ourselves with too much extra reading, That said, I think that the Bowden/Scott and the Ito report have helped tremendously. Keep going, just as you are doing here--keep reflecting, and writing, and integrating your wiki work with that of your peers. Things are beginning to gel, and I am completely confident that we are going to be pleasantly surprised when we see the outcomes, and all the resonance between the different forms of service learning/writing w've only just begun to explore this semester.
And I love the Scribus find! Open source DTP! Here's part 1 of a three part Scribus walk-through. We must begin working with this, "write" away. Good work , Jacob
