Section I
1. Do you feel we are proceeding towards these goals? What is so far proving most useful? What would you change, and why?
- I think we are going on and doing things as we go in the class, but I enjoy the way it is going. Most writing classes pressure you to finish certain assignments on specific dates even if the class has fallen behind, but I feel this class is less pressure and I really like the way we flow. At first I was a bit confused on what to do and what was expected of us, but after a few classes I loosened up and started catching on. I was very worried, I didn't want to do the wrong thing and mess up, but I quickly realized that's not what the class was about. I've learned that I should break down a lot of my writing to make it better. That is always useful. As time goes on, I think people get used to the way you ask us to do assignments and that is your way of structuring things. As long as everyone relaxes, the structure seems to work.
2. How do you define your responsibilities to this class? How are you living up to those responsibilities? What are your greatest contributions to class? What can you improve?
- I definitely think that when you are on top of assignments this class gets less stressful. When I put things off until the last minute I am worried and nervous about doing the wrong type of assignment. There is some reading involved and blogging which always gets overwhelming if it's done altogether. I think everyone in the class has a different flavor and writing style, so it is helpful when we read eachothers papers. I contribute a different type of writing because I see things and put things differently due to the fact that I am a business major. I can improve my flow of writing a little bit maybe. I can also stop being such a procrastinator so I can put more time into my writing.
3. How do you define ShareRiff's responsibilities as teacher of this class? Is ShareRiff fulfilling those responsibilities? What more or different can he do to help you fulfill the work of this class? What more or different can ShareRiff do to help you understand the work he is asking you to do?
- I think ShareRiff is pretty much on top of things on the Wiki. Things are organized and on there as soon as we leave class. ShareRiff is doing a good job holding the class together and making the writers feel comfortable with what they are doing. There really isn't any pressure on the Wiki, it's a free universe. I think that ShareRiff can give us more details on assignments so people like me won't be so nervous! Also, sometimes I would like some feedback on my assignments so I know what to improve for the next one. I like to know my grades because I have no idea where I stand right now and I would like to try to improve in areas that I am not doing well in.
4. What more or different can ShareRiff do to help you understand the work he is asking you to do?
- I think that we should spend more time on papers rather than reviewing what happened in the books such as Bogost and McCloud. We can break down papers maybe so we can see what you think is good and what you don't see as good writing since you are very educated in that department. The calendar could be a little clearer. The biggest thing I want in the class is feedback on what I am doing and what I can improve on!
Section II
1. Graphical representation of your writing/composing process: you can scan in a drawing, you can upload or link to a photograph or film clip, you can use software to design a graph or flowchart....have fun.
-i cant get my picture to work!! i will keep trying, but it was a picture of "jam session"
I enjoy writing when it’s a topic that I like. I like that we are free to write about what we want, although it makes me stressed out because there is such a broad range of things we can write about. I just go with the flow of writing I will be honest and say that I don’t pay attention to the modes of evaluation.
I enjoy the writing workshops because I get feedback from my papers from my peers who are the audience. I think the writing workshops are helpful when we write especially since most of the people in our class are writers and I am in the business world. I feel like I am good at writing, but my peers have a different style of writing and sometimes it is nice to work outside of the box.
In order to write a good paper for this class I feel an outline is necessary. I also like to research a lot on the topics I am writing about so I can provide a lot of information for the audience. Although there is not a lot of pressure I feel that I am improving in this class. We talk a lot about writing in class which helps because I transfer those ideas into my writing. Being around so many journalists changes my flavor a little bit. Overall, I enjoy this class because it really is unlike any other writing classes!
