Writing Program Students!

Upcoming Spring 2009 Writing Program Showcase - May 1 2:30-5:00 pm. An excellent opportunity to showcase your hard work!

All students enrolled in a Spring 2009 Writing Program Class that have done a project pertaining to local community organizations and/or community issues are strongly encouraged to participate in the end of semester showcase on May 1st! You can contribute:

  • a display that may include a poster, essay, video, podcast, technical piece, or other item you'd like to present
  • a 5-minute oral or video presentation that highlights your work
  • or both!

If you would like to participate, please fill out this form and drop it off at DAV 120 or DAV 119A DAV 121A by April 23, 2009. And if you have questions, contact Jill McCracken at jmccrack@stpt.usf.edu or 873-4740.

Name: _________________________________

E-mail: _________________________________

Title of project: __________________________

Format of Presentation: (oral, poster, document, etc.) ____________________________

Brief Description:

-------

Where: Florida Center for Teachers (FCT) 118

When: May 1, 2:30-5:00 PM

What: Writing Program Showcase

Who: All ENC sections

Options: display or present. Presentations will be 5 minutes in length. If you wish to present, contact Dr. Jill McCracken by April 17th. Submit digital materials (urls, powerpoints, email describing poster) by April 27th.

Nota Bene: the Final Showcase is not mandatory, but I strongly encourage you to participate in this event, which Dr. McCracken has inititiated--all current ENC sections are invited to participate. Even if you do not wish to make a 5 minute presentation (Community Literacy group: we could form groups as a way to compress the MZHS projects and narratives into a few presentations. Gamers: we could create a few games designed to let attendees navigate the wiki), I strongly encourage you to display your projects on laptops and/or in poster formats. I expect the atmosphere to be lively and fun....more a "bazaar" than a "cathedral" (cf Eric Raymond), and this project fair should provide a stimulating context for meeting USFSP peers. This is the first time all ENC sections have had a "common final" schedule block, and this is the pilot version of what will become a required Final Showcase event for all ENC courses, beginning this summer. Pilot to copilots: let's do this! Gamers: let's play!
