All,
Several things have changed regarding my project. My goal started as a plan to make a website to promote community literacy within my own bowling league. After much thought and comtemplation I found that my heat and soul was not in the project. I found that maybe I should stat in a different place to promote community literacy. I chose to start at the the age where we were all impressionable, our childhood years. In our meeting with Pat I found that the children in my local community are suffering and that maybe it I give them brighter days then they can promote community literacy within each of thier neighborhoods and homes.
My plan is to write a proposal for three thousand dollars for a Wii gaming console for Mt. Zion Progressive Baptist Church after school program. With that money I will also buy a flat screen television, so the children can get the full experience of the Wii.
I still believe in the bowling so to get the children excited about learning, fitness, and sports I propose we hold tournaments in the sports games provided by the Wii system. All games will be ruled my professional rules according to each sport and which ever sport is chosen, money left over from the proposal will go to awards and trophies.
For example, if we have a bowling tournament there will be a singles, doubles and team event which will promote teamwork, self esteem and spreading the word to other children in their community. Even if they choose another sport, same rules apply. In the end I want them to have the confidence to go out and try the real thing and realize that the Wii is a good tool just not the only tool.
I hope with all my hard work and determination I hope that this can become a reality. Thank you for all your support .
