I was reading over this post and thought i'd share some information as it relates to a potential music program at Mount Zion. Over the break, Amanda and I spent several days cleaning out the top floor of one of the buildings owned by the organization that is to become the Creative Studio. We came accross a variety of used instruments including (and perhaps not limited to) trombones, trumpets, clarinets, drums, violins, ect. As of now I am pretty sure they are being stored in another location on property. Being curious about everything, I inspected the instruments for functionality, and though i'm no expert, I would say with a few minor tune-ups and perhaps some new reeds and strings, these instruments would be perfectly functional. There were also a number of sheet music stands as well as a box full of instruments supplies and a ton of drum heads (which can be quite expensive) all unused. As far as I am concerned, these instruments are fair game for whatever it is we would like to use them for.

Trey: Would like to know your thoughts on this info and perhaps whether I should contact Pat about the specifics regarding their use.

^^^^^^^^^^^That sounds great. I would definitely be interested in finding out about those instruments and how we can use them. -- jesse nevel**

Earlier today, Jacob Grimes and I were discussing ideas for devising, planning, and executing a music program (or numerous programs) at Mount Zion.

this is a place for those ideas to grow.

finding and providing instruction for instruments, reading music, music theory

becoming involved with the drumline (which exists at Mount Zion)

planning events

music education programs (on the history of different styles/movements, for example)
