More Evidence About Vidoe Games and Movies

Page history last edited by C. Kevin McBroom 14 years, 11 months ago

I found this list on line at: http://old-wizard.com/top-10-worst-movies-based-on-video-games

It was a list of the ten worst movies that were based on video games.  Granted, this list is purely one of opinion, but I can agree with most of what the guy was talking about.

10. Tomb Raider

While definitely not the best movie, it did have one redeeming factor, Angelina Jolie in very tight clothing, but let’s be honest, that really shouldn’t be considered as a redeeming factor, should it.

9. Resident Evil

Milla Jovovich as the butt kicking, genetically altered, (although she didn’t know it at the beginning and really neither did the audience) heroine.

I actually kinda’ liked this movie.  It was good enough to spawn two sequels.

8. Doom

Big fan of the game, no so much of the movie.  And that is coming from a fan of Dwayne The Rock Johnson

7. Mortal Kombat

Crappy fight scenes and even worse acting.

6. House of the Dead

Have to admit never saw this one.  Never wanted to.

5. Street Fighter

I did, however, have the misfortune of seeing this one, Van Damme as a American Air Force Special Forces guy?  Uh, Yeah right.

4. In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

I saw this one just a few days ago actually and I never knew it was from a video game.

 3. Wing commander

Avoided this one like the plague.  Won’t even watch it on free cable.

 2. Double Dragon

Bad acting, bad plot, bad music, bad clothes, bad movie.

 1. Mario Brothers

 Just all sorts of bad.

Now, here is my list of all the movies tied into video games that I can think of, thank you www.imdb.com

That site can give you all sorts background and trivia on almost any movie and TV show you can think of.

Super Mario Bros. (May 28, 1993)

Double Dragon (November 4, 1994)

Street Fighter (December 23, 1994)

Mortal Kombat (August 18, 1995)

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (November 21, 1997)

Pokémon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back (July 18, 1998)

Wing Commander (March 12, 1999)

Pokémon: The Movie 2000 - The Power of One (July 17, 1999)

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (June 15, 2001)

Resident Evil (March 15, 2002)

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (July 25, 2003)

House of the Dead (October 10, 2003)

Resident Evil: Apocalypse (September 10, 2004)

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (September 14, 2005)

Doom (October 21, 2005)

BloodRayne (January 6, 2006)

Silent Hill (April 21, 2006)

Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea (July 15, 2006)

Resident Evil: Extinction (September 21, 2007)

Hitman (November 21, 2007)

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (January 11, 2008)

Max Payne (October 16, 2008)

And we diefinately can not forget two very important movies:

War Games (June 3, 1983)

Not really a movie based on a game, but one where the game almost destroys the US.

 And of course:

Tron (9 July 1982)

Almost the whole movie takes place in a game, kinda’ makes you wonder what is really happening inside that computer when you hit that start button.
