When do you write? where? and how?
I write all the time. I am writing for school, work, and to friends throughout the entire day.
The style of my writing depends on who I am writing for. I think this is where Ito's study in
media comes into importance. There is a clear difference in language when you are writing
to co-worker rather then texting your best friend. These differences have a direct correla-
tion with the where and how as well. I wont be listening to my favorite band jam out while
I'm trying to write a five page paper. However if I'm sitting at my desk replying to emails, it
doesn't bother me to have a some music playing in the background.
I write a lot at my desk at work since I spend the majority of my time sitting there. I also
have a technical writing position where I am creating and writing documents for the firm I
work for. Therefore I am writing all day because it is what I do for a living. If I am not
writing a document I am responding to emails. In the middle of all these things though I am
constantly in contact with the outside world for I am a texting finatic! I have to be texting
my best friend or one of my friends all the time. Sometimes I even branch out and text my
family memebers...but they usually dont respond to me. They think I'm rediculous with
texting.
As far as school is concerned I am usually writing some boring paper that I struggle through
while getting distracted by what is on the internet, or who has posted a message on my
Facebook page. I am a procrastinator so I can avoid all aspects of boring school work with
endless searches on Google or discovering entirely new genres of music that I didn't know
existed until Youtube.com. "Messing Around" is what Ito refers this too, and I find that this
may be my most common use for the internet. I love to see what it is that I can find, discover
and/or learn about.
