 Homework for February 9

 Announcements:

In addition to the following homework, please make sure you are caught up on all previous homework assignments--including the following:

1. your peer reviews of the resumes and cover letters

2. your reviews of others' mission statements (see in-class assignment from Feb 2)

Peer Reviews of Cover Letters, Resumes, Individual Proposals and Group Proposals

Requirements: You need to specifically answer the questions for each person you are reviewing.

Make sure there is a clear link from your peer review page to your peer review and to their peer review page so they and I can find it.

We will be looking at these reviews during class on Monday. Let me know if you have any questions. I am still sick, but will try to be online somewhat this weekend. Have a great one!

When in doubt, a mantra that Dr. Trey Conner is using in his class is Stop, Drop, and Doc, where Doc means documentation.  If you are unsure of what you are doing or should be doing, document your process, your questions, your ideas, etc.  Include these ideas in your project page or blog. Make them public so your group and I can respond to them! This documentation will also be useful throughout the semester--in your midterm and end-of-semester reflections. Stop, drop, and Doc!

  • Read Chapter 5 in Service Learning text: Refining Your Project
  • Write a blog responding to Chapter 5; How will this chapter help you create and refine your project?
  • Based on your individual proposal and group revision in class on Monday, create a complete draft of your Project Proposal directed to your community partner. Use the samples in Chapter 5, in the ENC 2210 Readings and Resources, and in the Appendix of your textbook as guides.
  • Read Chapter 6 in Service Learning text: Managing Your Collaboration
  • Write a blog responding to Chapter 6; How does this chapter influence the way you view your group? What are some potential obstacles? What are some potential gains? How can you work with your group to achieve a successful project and experience in this class? Are there concerns at this point? If so, address them in your blog and/or to your group and/or to myself.
