Dis Be Me

Page history last edited by C. Kevin McBroom 14 years, 11 months ago

I sat there staring at a blank page with that one naked bulb swinging over my head on a frayed cord, casting erie shadows across the screen and the wall. I think to myself, "I really need to write something" but for some reason the whole creative process seems to have forsaken me and left me numb from the neck up. Actually that's not all true.. The frayed cord....nope, erie shadows....well if you include mine then, yes, but other than that, no, The numb part? I guess that is a distinct possibility, I have been accused of a lack of, let's just say, common sense in the past, it did take me a while to even find this page and get it started, so OK, I'll give you atleast partially numb from the neck up.

I was born a poor coal miner's daughter.. no wait that would be plagerism wouldn't it? OK It was a dark and stormy night upon the evening of my birth, nah, that ain't right either, I was born in the day time, here in Florida, but on the East coast. Cocoa Beach to be exact. Lived in Miami until I was 15. From then on the moving started, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Massachussettes and then back to Florida, and all that was before I joined the Navy.

I am of the generation that grew up before the home consoles. Yes, there was the occasional Pong or even once in a great while you may come across an Atari 2600, but the main connection I had with any video games were the ones that were in the Arcades and cost a quarter to play. The introduction of Space Invaders and the all powerful Pacman, (of course that was before he was imasculated by the introduction of Mrs. Pacman, after all when was the wedding, and why didn't The Enquirer cover the reception festivities?) were the biggest news in school. The crowds that built around these games where impressive for the low res animation of the day.

After a great deal of begging and promising to behave and take out the garbage, my brother and I were blessed with a game console. But it wasn't an Atari it was an Omega, ( I remember it having a keyboard and many basically educational games, so you can imagine how many of my friends knocked on our door so they could learn about grammar and typing) so I spent many of my summer days over the friends' houses that had an Atari. I guess a great deal of the time any video games I played where the one's you paid for.

my World of WarCrack...errrr craft Character.

Being the type of person that has always prefered fantasy type games like the RPG Dungeons and Dragons, I gravitated to games like Golden Axe and one game that for some reason I can not remember the name of it and the ones like it. I guess that is why I have gone for World of Warcraft.

I believe that you can call that my only real vice. I believe that it is a great escape from the tedius world of reality.

That was a performer that I ran across on youtube. He calls himself The Bard of Cornwall. Look him up, I think that the guy is outrageously talented

So much space and just so much to write!
